I think that one of the sadest things is how big a deal they are making over its size when it is actually about the same size as the MacBook. It is only .3 inches thinner at its thickest point, which is how I measure how thick a device is. Sure weighting two pounds less is nice but not with all the compromises and the price and power differences. If you really want an SSD based laptop I say buy the MacBook and upgrade it yourself. Also worth noting is that the MacBook uses a faster SATA interface while the MBA uses PATA so with an SSD chances are the interface bus is going to be a bigger bottleneck than it would be on the plain old MacBook.

I was hoping they would be doing something smaller and more revolutionary. Something like a 10 inch multitouch screen with no keyboard or trackpad or optical drive. Basically just a larger more powerful iPhone that ran the exact same version of Mac OS X as their laptops and desktops. Either that or a convertible tablet MacBook. Of course I was also hoping they would announce a new mid level desktop that didn't have a built-in screen but did feature a PCIe slot or two.
