Description
I just downloaded mori, with an interest in using it as a company todo application. I created an "Owner" field, intended to represent who will be doing each todo item. I noticed that there seems to be no way to make a list of owners in a drop down box. I assume drop downs would be useful for other things as well. Here is my suggestion, feel free to impove this design as needed. I tried for a balance between functionality, and less complexity for easier implementation:
A new column type: drop down list.
The data is internally strings for this column type.
The list items that will be shown are typed by the user into the drop down editior from the column editor when that field is selected.
Perhaps the drop down editor is reachable from a button that is only visible when the field is a drop down, called "Edit drop down items"? I noticed that the column editors visual components don't seem dynamic at the moment, so thats the only way I could think of to squeeze in an editor into that dialog.
This field is searchable like any other text field, as text.
The list that is shown when the column is viewable always has one extra item, a blank space at the top representing an empty string.
Just to clarify, the list that is shown is a drop down, not a combo box. The text value can be selected, but not edited from the viewed column.
Updates
Sorry, the title of this feature should be "drop down box fields"... I was kind of thinking as I typed.
Please make sure to vote on issues that are important to you, otherwise the request is likely to get lost in the pile of others.

I'd like to sponsor this request. Here are the requirements:
1) Allow the definition of a custom column type of "List" in addition to String, Boolean, etc. in the Column Definition setup. This can follow the current process of writing to a new notebook first.
2) Allow one to easily add/remove values to that column - without writing a new notebook file.
3) Allow for the in-row selection of one of these values in an Item that has this column visible.
I am willing to pay USD50 for this change request.
This feature is something that I have mentioned before and I would like to see immediately. There are a number of things in Mori that I would like to see improved, but this is the last major feature that would go a long way in boosting my workflow. For our company, I have hundreds of tasks outlined (by company and project). I also have one column where I write in the company the project is for and a column where I write in the project name (seems repetitive, I know, but there is a reason for this madness). I then set up a smart folder for each person that I assign tasks to. I can then see what tasks they have for which company and for what project (it's the only way I know how to keep all of this information intact for each task). The problem is is that I have to manually type in the information for each task- this becomes hindrance. Searchable pop-up columns is the solution!

Any updates on this one? This is another feature that is mentioned in numerous places on this website- and someone is even offering to sponsor it, but there doesn't seem to be any movement.

I'd also like to see this. The following might be considered as alternative implementations:
1) Text completion within a column to match a specified list of items. This would likely be faster to use than a popup, but requires remembering the list.
2) Text completion to match the list of unique items in this column currently specified for all entries. This obviates the need to specify a list of items separately, and lets you add a new item to the list just by typing it into the column cell.

Yep - just what I as thinking so I'd very much like to see this too.
Drop Down, Pop Up, maybe with "other" at the bottom so you could override the list... whatever. The point is that many of these columns contain repeated data like "type" or "done" or something so the user shouldn't have to manually compose it increasing the possiblity of a mistake.
