Hello,
Having used CW for some time I thought I'd share some of my thoughts with you. Whilst I like the idea behind CW I'm not sure where you will be taking this. I also use Meridian Which in addition to having a Stop Watch and Timer also has multiple clocks. All have the option of floating clocks or menu bar display. Whilst people like me (your customers) have a great deal of choice when it comes to software, I tend to look at what functions an application offers (without being bloated). CW I believe could do so much more, and perhaps you have this in mind...or not.
With regards the alarm function in CW, it works differently to other applications in that one selects how many hours & mins before an alarm is activated. Whilst this might be seen in some circumstances as okay, in practice one would normally be more comfortable with setting a time for the alarm to activate.
I don't mean to sound negative in my views...I have purchased CW already. I just think that CW could be used much more on my iBook than it currently is.
Kind Regards,
hardcat
Thanks for your comments,
Thanks for your comments, and I think you are right, setting an alarm for a specific time would be quite useful… in fact I swear that I already have a plugin in progress that will do this, but can’t seem to locate it at the moment.
In truth Clockwork’s main purpose is as a test platform for the new Hog Bay Software process. On one hand making it do more then just simulate an egg timer is a bit beyond the applications scope, I want to spend most of my time on other apps like Forest.
But on the other hand a big part of the new Hog Bay Software process is making apps so that they are very flexible and extensible. And that means that without to much work it’s pretty easy to extend Clockwork beyond it’s original scope, for example the plugin that I talked about earlier. I can also imaging it as part of a billing solution (see this post).
So in general Clocwork is and will always (just) be a simple but good looking egg timer, and I think it has pretty much all of that functionality now. But in the future (once things settle down a little more around here) I expect plugins (by me or others) to arrive that extend that basic functionality into other areas.
Humm I hope that answered at least some of your questions.
