Smart Folders and Trash

Tags ( )

Am I crazy, or was there previously a checkbox on Smartfolders that would exclude items in the Trash, which is not in the current version?

I'm guessing that with the addition of the "contained by..." criteria, it was removed since it seemed to duplicate the new functionality.

If so, I would make a feature suggestion to add it back for the following reason: it's easy to simply add "AND contained by is not Trash" if you are compounding the smart folder criteria with an AND (i.e. all conditions.) However, if you are making an OR criteria, it's going to be difficult (or let's say kludgy) to exclude the items in the trash.

If I'm mistaken, and this option wasn't previously available as a checkbox, then it probably won't be such a high priority request--but if it's just a matter of putting back something that's already coded, maybe we could see it again relatively soon.

Thanks,
Jeff

BTW, I'm using the ability to nest smart folders in one another, and I must say that the effect is simply brilliant. Very nice to have.

Their was, but I took it out

Their was, but I took it out when I added the "Contained By" smart folder rule. Now you can do the same thing, plus a lot more, using the "Contained By" rule.

Yes, the contained by rule

Yes, the contained by rule is much more flexible (and a wonderful addition,) but I was trying to say that now, any time you want to make a smart folder with "any" criteria (i.e. matching any of the following) then you'll need another smartfolder (as parent or child) to get rid of the Trash entries.

In this sense, I would say that the "exclude items from trash" checkbox fits Mori simplicity better than having to use two connected smart folders. I would wager that the time taken to put it back it would more than be saved by not having to explain again and again in forums and help requests how to exclude trash items AND use the 'any' criteria.

Oh right. My brain missed

Oh right. My brain missed the second half of your message. I see what you mean.

Smart Folders and Trash Mori 1.6.9

Hi,
the checkbox "include items in the Trash" is NOT working, which means items from the Trash show up in Smart Folders. OIne can work around this via "contained by is not Trash" but as BMEGuy has pointed out Smart Folders with any are getting complicated.

Smart Folders in Mori 1.6.10 Working Now?

I've been trying to fix the outstanding Smart Folder problems in Mori the past few weeks, and haven't been able to replicate this issue in Mori 1.6.10 (i.e., unchecking "Include items from Trash" doesn't exclude items which are in the Trash folder and meet *any* of the given criteria). Does it work properly for you now?
