mGTD Plugin Release

Tags ( )

It's quite late here, so I'll just write that this should be compatible with the latest Mori 1.6, but I haven't tested it extensively with that version since I've been using Mori 1.4 up until just today. Even though, both I and Prion have used this without any data loss for a few months, I would still urge you to use it with data that is sufficiently BACKED UP.
I've made some rough docs, but it would help for people to also take a look at the earlier mGTD posts for more information.

Thanks, Jeff, for releasing

Thanks, Jeff, for releasing your great plugin, most appreciated.

For everybody sitting on the fence let me make some statements that Jeff is apparently too modest to make.

The plug-in as it is now offers a very complete GTD arsenal that you can configure to your liking. Nothing stops you from combining the power of "remind" for recurring actions (part of the mGTD plugin BTW) and your own ideas about how GTD suits your needs. Whatever works for you, mGTD just helps you realize your approach, think of it as a damn fine toolbox. Read http://www.hogbaysoftware.com/node/2142 and the website linked therein for some very good ideas on GTD workflow.

The colour highlighting is configurable and works now. See http://www.hogbaysoftware.com/node/2198 Ta.

mGTD has a very fine (arguably the most complete) handling of recurrent actions. lead times prevent future action items from clogging your todo lists thus making the review process much easier. There are soft and hard recurs and quasi natural language definitions of recurrency details.
There are good examples in the mGTDdocs pdf (Jeff refers to them as rough docs. He hasn't seen documentation accompanying even expensive software in years, I am led to asssume :-) )
True, the documentation makes no attempt to explain what GTD actually *IS*. Otherwise, it strikes a good balance of verbosity and a concise presentation of how to get where and quick.

Quicksilver integration - what would GTD on a Mac be without it?
mGTD has inherited from Mori proper a kind of Quicksilver integration that is easy to miss. See this discussion: http://www.hogbaysoftware.com/node/555
It is unfortunate that this still requires some fiddling around. Nothing fancy though it boils down to creating the inbox folder and choosing which of the many scripts in the thread works for you. Still it does not work right out of the box. I suggest that this script and the corresponding folder structure inside Mori be incorporated in the mGTD download because this is where most people will look for it. Or else include it in Mori itself.

In any case, mGTD is a much underrated and mature piece of software which I have no reservation to trust my valuable data (and LOTS!).

Thanks again
Prion

Prion, Thanks for the kind

Prion,

Thanks for the kind description.

Please note that I updated it to 1.2.1 (let's call the initial release 1.2.) It fixes a problem with the changing of colors also retagging archived items. (So check that your archive doesn't have any "na" tags if you recolored recently.)

Thanks,
Jeff
