"Unbreakable" file links

Tags ( | )

I wrote this script when I got ticked off one time too many when I clicked a file link that no longer worked - probably after a bout of spring cleaning in my home folder.

Standard links break when you move the linked file - these don't. The secret? Script makes an alias in a safe place, then links to the alias. Idea from Jeff Porten; uses Satimage osax.

How to use:
Select some text in Mori, then run this script. A file/folder selection dialog will come up; select target for link.
The selected text will be turned into link by GUI scripting; some activity in Mori should be apparent.

NOTE: some problem (likely outside Mori) makes this fail with html files: Safari opens the alias, not the original, and/or Finder opens the enclosing folder of the original. No solution; link to the original normally, or convert to rtf.
