Mori freezes with tag folder

Tags ( )

I’ve successfully used Mori for several years and never had a problem. It continued to play nicely with Leopard (10.5.2) on my Intel iMac with 3 GB of memory. Today, for the first time I decided to learn about and implement the so-called “tag” folder. After that, everything went downhill. Mori froze and I had to force quit. Tried again. Mori froze right away. I rebooted my entire machine and launched Mori. It froze.

By the way, I’m using the latest version of Mori (1.6.10.) I also have about 25 pretty brief entries, and I don’t do anything fancy with the program. I hardly ever even include PDFs, let alone images. I also repair permissions at least once a week and run other routine maintenance tasks using either Onyx or Cocktail.

Anybody else experiencing unusual freezes or have thoughts on this?

I’m bummed. Everything was great until this happened.

Mori Freezing on Restart?

It sounds like either your defaults for Mori are corrupt or the notebook is. Try renaming the Mori defaults file at /Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.apokalypsesoftware.Mori.plist (substituting the "username" text with your account name) and then restarting Mori. This will remove the defaults you've saved previously, including info on which notebooks to open on restart (if you used that setting), so you might need to reconfigure the preferences to your liking.

Should Mori crash when you re-open the notebook, it may have been corrupted in the crash. In that case, archive the notebook in question and email it to me and I'll attempt to recover it for you.

I apologize for the inconvenience and will try my best to help you recover your data.

Rather than do what you

Rather than do what you suggested, I went to my cloned back-up, made just a few days ago -- and before I had input anything much new into Mori -- and replaced both my existing document and my preference file. Mori opened as it should.

I hope it remains stable. And in the meanwhile, I don’t think I’ll attempt anything having to do with “tag” folders.

I’ll let you know if any other bizarre behavior occurs.
