Sync with ical, Sync services

Description

I don't really like to see Mori incorporating a calender, it should be kept as simple as possible.

However, if there is a better way to sync with the iCal, it would be really useful for project/task management.

There are plenty of software out there that extends the reminder/scheduling feature of iCal, so if Mori can sync with it (iCal Calendar and ToDo), automatically grants Mori the extra scheduling capability.

Indirectly, this would solve some of the sync feature requested by others for iPod/Palm/PocketPC/Mobile phone. Since iCal is widely used by other developer, we are more certain that the data in iCal can be transferred to future devices, and Hog bay doesn't need to keep on updating in the synchronization for the new devices, but to deal with iCal only.

Please vote for this if you find this feature useful.

It's not a complete solution, but look at these Mori Sample Scripts for the script named "Import iCal Todo Items". That script will import Todo Items from iCal. It shouldn't be to hard to write another script that exports them back out.

What would be really really great is if 'todo'-s would have a fileformat that makes it easier to select them. I now type 'todo' whenever I am defining a todo, which is rather silly.

And then the next logical step would be to integrate it with iCal and then be able to sync it to my Treo 650....

So yes, please develop something like this

The next release should have custom types for the columns: meaning that you don't have to just have a column with text in it (e.g. you have to type "todo") but you could have a todo column that is a checkbox, so that whenever you want to mark something as a todo you can just check it off. What's even more exciting is that you'll have a smart folder that can gather all of your todo's into one single folder, no matter where they might be in your notebook.

So, what do I do to vote for the idea? OK, I do hereby vote for this feature :)

I'm actually evaluating Mori and love it. I'm looking at other solutions to implement GTD (viz, Kinkless GTD) but that requires a heavy investment to get omnioutliner pro. The ability to sync with iCal will surely influence me heavily in Mori's direction.

I'll probably still use Mori even without this feature but it would be so much more wonderful if iCal sync could be implemented.

How to vote for a feature... at the bottom of this page (when you are logged in) you should see two sets of five stars. One is labeled "Vote:" the other is labeled "Average (x number of votes)". To vote you need to click on the stars under the "Vote:" label.

Title:Sync with iCal» Sync with ical, Sync services

Is there any chance Mori will work with Sync Services? This would (I think?) let Mori synch its data seemlessly with ical, address book and any other application that worked with Sync Services (maybe other outliners?).

It would be great if Mori could sync both way with iCal, at least for the todo items.
Used in conjunction with mGTD this feature would give us a powerful todo manager with iSync integration.

OS 10.5 Leopard will be adding a new sync framework for managing todos and events across mutliple apps without quitting / reopening them. Effectively allowign Mori/iCal/Mail and any otehr app manage the same todos as each other.

So for now, go write your own script to do this if you want it.

But id leave any kind of real app integration for when leopard hits the shelves.

It could perhaps in affect have a kind of live smart folder that is like a live portal into the new ToDo framework
WHat kind of custom variables (if any) it can handle, i dont know.
