Jesse gave me permission to post an open call for donations to the American Cancer Society through my Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society's Relay for Life participation.
My close friend, Amy Barney, passed away 06/10/01 after a 3-year battle with a GIST (Gastrointestinal Stroma Tumor) cancer. She left behind her then 4-year-old son as well as her husband. During her fight, her number one goal was to live long enough for her son to remember her. I think she succeeded. She was courageous and beautiful to the end, and surrounded by her family and friends singing hymns on the night she passed away, a couple days after refusing to take any more blood transfusions.
Participating in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life is something I really believe in, and I hope for the sake of your own loved ones who have been affected by cancer, and for those in the future who will be affected by cancer, you will help the fight against cancer today by donating online at www.acsevents.org/relay/umaine. You may click on any of the teams or participants' names in the column on the right-hand side of that webpage, and donate through their personalized sites. All the funds go to the American Cancer Society, so I don't particularly care if you donate through me, my team, or any other participant or team. It's the cause that is important.
Thank you for your help!
Sincerely,
Laurel Grosjean (Jesse's wife)
