Description
I'm not sure if this is the intended behavior, but presently each alias occurs as a seperate item in a smart folder. So I have 4 copies of many things there when I do a search. At least there should be some preference to avoid this.
Updates
Also reveal location does nothing if an item is aliased
Also if you are aliased to something in trash, you still look aliased?
hmmm phantom aliases seem to disappear if I restart the notebook
This "bug" is annoying me too... There should be a way to chose wether we want aliases to show up as several entries or only one.
I'm working on this now. Would anyone ever like to see all the aliases in the results (ie should this be an option) or should I just change the behavior to always filter out the aliases?
The only difference between aliases is their parent. Since that is not shown in search results, anyway, you might as well always filter aliases. Since the remaining result will have the alias icon people who do care for the parent can just cycle through "go to next alias".
The only issue is deciding what should appear in the Note Footer View when you click on an alias that's shown in a search result. (Normally, the Note Footer View shows you the path to the note; but aliases exist in 2+ places by definition.)
Perhaps aliases could show up with disclosure triangles (or the like), which when expanded could reflect their path in the Note Footer View. Before it's expanded, it could either show nothing in Note Footer View, or it could show the location of the first matching alias.
I just realized that the Note Footer View isn't the only place in search results that requires a specific location; search results can, after all, be: deleted, moved, revealed, etc...
